Air Ambulance Cost Saving Options

A private medical transport, via Air Ambulance, from Europe to the United States can be very costly. If you or your loved one are in need of medical transportation but have some flexibility with time & budget, Air Ambulance Worldwide offers these two following cost saving options:

1. Commercial Medical Escort

When patients are medically stable and the expense of a private air ambulance is not a necessity, Air Ambulance Worldwide can provide our Commercial Medical Escort service. Typically these patients require oxygen, basic monitoring, administration of medications and basic hygiene assistance. Air Ambulance Worldwide has open working relationships with all airline medical desks helping to expedite medical and oxygen approval for our flights. With prevalent security issues and new airport restrictions, our medical escort personnel provide the medical and personal support that the patient needs to navigate through today’s airports. Our medical escort personnel accompany the patient every step of the way. This service costs thousands less than a private air ambulance and could be exactly right for you and your family.

2. Commercial Airline Stretcher

Through our arrangements with International Commercial Airlines and utilizing our commercial stretcher service, it is possible to transport patients that qualify, and are stable enough to fly. Commercial airline stretcher service can save thousands of dollars compared to a private air ambulance. In addition the Commercial airline stretcher service ensures that the patient will receive expert medical attention. We arrange for a block of seats to be removed from the aircraft, install an FAA approved airline stretcher with a privacy curtain and provide the proper medical team to care for the patient. Family or companions can fly along with the patient and be by their side.

When the need arises, call Air Ambulance Worldwide 24/7 at 877-922-9675 to take advantage of these cost saving measures.

Verify Air Ambulance Coverage with Your Insurance Provider Before Overseas Travel

If you will be traveling overseas, or even domestically, it is important that you always verify your exact air ambulance coverage with your insurance provider or other benefit program (such as certain American Express cards). Often times, insurance and benefit providers will advertise “medical evacuation” coverage, but you must read the fine print. Certain coverage will only evacuate you to the nearest “civilized” hospital, not necessarily flying you back to your country of origin.

Below is a list of questions to ask your insurance or benefit provider BEFORE you travel:

  1. Do I have Air Ambulance coverage?
  2. If so, what exactly does this cover?
    1. Evacuation to the nearest civilized hospital?
    2. Evacuation back home to America?
    3. Will I have a choice?
    4. Can you please provide me with documentation that I can take with me when I travel that verifies coverage?

Asking the above questions will help prevent an unexpected financial surprise when traveling. It is also important to make sure that you possess the necessary documents that verify air ambulance coverage, along with a toll-free/collect number to call if services are needed. Call Air Ambulance Worldwide Inc. if you have any questions about needing an Air Ambulance service while traveling abroad; a Flight Manager will happy to take your call 24/7 at 877-922-9675.

Not All Air Ambulance Companies Are Created Equal

A quick Google search will give you many options for an air ambulance service. However, as with everything else, not all air ambulance service providers are equal. So how do you know who are the trusted service providers? One question to ask is if the service provider is accredited by EURAMI, European Air Medical Institute.

EURAMI only grants accreditation after careful on-site examination of the following aspects of a service provider: Ethics, Medical Management, Training & Qualifications, Aircraft Operations & Logistics, Communications, Management Practices, and Quality Control & Management. There is only a small group of air ambulance service providers who meet all the standards in these important areas.

Air Ambulance Worldwide Inc. is one of the proud few that hold EURAMI accreditation. To you, the customer, that means you can expect the absolute best in care and service from Air Ambulance Worldwide Inc.. If you are in need of an Air Ambulance, now is not the time to take risks on an unknown air ambulance service provider. Go with a trusted EURAMI accredited provider. Call Air Ambulance Worldwide today at 877-922-9675.

FAA Proposes New Safety Measures for the Air Ambulance Industry

The safety record of the air ambulance industry has been tarnished in recent years, mostly due to an increase in accidents involving helicopters. When using an air ambulance service safety is something that should be something that is demanded and not something that should cause you added concern. Air Ambulance Worldwide Inc. prides itself on its perfect safety record, and supports the new FAA proposed rules that will improve helicopter safety when being operated as an air ambulance.

Air Ambulance Worldwide Inc. does not operate helicopters, for numerous reasons, safety being one of them. You can be assured that when you select Air Ambulance Worldwide that your loved ones are being transported according to the very best safety standards in the industry.

If your medical transport requires the use of a helicopter, be sure to ask the air ambulance service provider if they operate under the new FAA proposed safety standards:

  1. Helicopters are equipped with terrain awareness and warning systems.
  2. Pre-flight risk analysis.
  3. Conduct safety briefings for medical personnel.
  4. Follow procedures for flying in bad weather and landing in remote areas.
  5. A fleet of 10 or more helicopters requires a control center.
  6. Commanding pilots would have to hold an instrument rating.
  7. Transmit a base copy of a load manifest, which includes aircraft’s weight and passenger list.

If you are in need of an air ambulance service, call Air Ambulance Worldwide Inc. today, and let your loved one’s safety be the last thing on your mind. A flight coordinator is available at 877-922-9675.

Air Ambulance Worldwide Announces the Acquisition of the Most Sophisticated Aircraft in the Air Ambulance Industry Today--The Piaggio P180

Beginning July 2010 Air Ambulance Worldwide will be the very first and only U.S. operator of the Piaggio P180 in the domestic air ambulance market. After extensive research of the aircraft utilized for the domestic air ambulance market, Air Ambulance Worldwide has identified the Piaggio P180 as one of the most, if not the most effective aircraft available today.

Palm Harbor, FL (PRWEB) May 29, 2010 -- Beginning July 2010, Air Ambulance Worldwide (http://www.airambulanceworldwide.com) will be the very first and only U.S. operator of the Piaggio P180 in the domestic air ambulance market. After extensive research of the aircraft utilized for the domestic air ambulance market, Air Ambulance Worldwide has identified the Piaggio P180 as one of the most, if not the most effective aircraft available today.

This new addition to the Air Ambulance Worldwide fleet will allow us to provide unparalleled service to our patients and clients. A few of the benefits of the Piaggio P180:

  • 375 cubic feet cabin space which is 50%+ larger than the other industry standard aircraft providing greater patient care and comfort
  • Cost containment for our clients including private families and insurance companies
  • The ability to fly at 450 mph or higher so that the flight times will be kept to a minimum.

  • Flight altitudes of 41,000 feet which, well above inclement weather levels providing for a safe, smooth and direct route.

  • To be able to keep a companion or family members with the patient during the transfer (multiple passengers 2 was a minimum and 3-4 was preferred)

  • The ability to fly all domestic routes with a maximum of one refueling stop, and in many cases, no stops at all.

  • A work environment for the medical team that is conducive to providing superior care

  • Enough luggage capacity to handle 2 - 4 large suitcases and a standard wheelchair.

  • A completely private and enclosed lavatory.

The Piaggio P180 has been available for 20 years to travelers in the European market. However, when it made its debut in the U.S. there were inherent problems that all new aircraft have when they enter into a new regional market. Insufficient number of service centers able to provide necessary maintenance and repairs, difficulty in obtaining spare parts--the supply chain was simply not yet developed, so there was the potential of being out of operation for months. Today there are service centers throughout the U.S. and Canada and parts are readily available.

Air Ambulance Worldwide will have the aircraft on display in cities nationwide very soon. And effective July 1, 2010 the aircraft will be in operation to help patients and families get home safely.

Since 2004, Air Ambulance Worldwide, Inc. has provided fixed wing air ambulance transportation service to Private Individuals and family members, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Medical Assist Companies, Cost Containment Companies and other providers of medical care. For Press Inquiries please contact Lauren Dulin at 727-781-1198.
